Bryan Ware, Founder of The Crayon Initiative, exemplifies the spirit of community. Under his leadership, The Crayon Initiative, has become a small community. On a weekly basis volunteers from every walk of life come into the Danville facility to sort, melt, mold and box the crayons to be shipped to the hospitals. Because its mission of bringing happiness to hospitalized children resonates with many people, we have been able to fulfill each individual’s desire to give back through volunteerism in senior living communities, with retirees, students, teachers, and the developmentally disabled. After 10 years in existence, Bryan and his team of volunteers appreciate the impact of having delivered 863,800 packs of crayons and the benefits of saving 412,601 pounds of crayons from landfills. Bryan is a dedicated and tireless leader who deserves to be recognized as Danville’s Citizen of the Year.
